Mrs. Amanda Eddings: On and Off the Job

Writer: Jordyn NailsJordyn Nails

Mrs. Amanda Eddings is an Amory High School math teacher, softball coach, and tennis coach, as well as a real estate agent and mother. She is a very intelligent woman born and raised in Northeast Mississippi. She was born in Pontotoc, MS, and spent her early and teenage years in Aberdeen, MS. She currently lives in Monroe Co. with her husband and 3 children, ages 3, 10, and 15. Mrs. Eddings is remembered by a lot of her past students and players due to her very unique personality and open-book kind of soul.

Throughout high school, Mrs. Eddings played basketball and softball before graduating from Aberdeen High School in 2002. She later went on to college where she tackled a business degree at ICC. Then, she went to Mississippi State University where she got her bachelors and masters degrees. She also went to Ole Miss to acquire her teaching degree.

Mrs. Eddings first taught at Hatley High School and also coached softball and basketball. There, her team went to state and was runner-up. She then transferred to Amory, where she has been currently for 11 years.

As previously stated, she is the tennis and softball coach at Amory High School. When Mrs. Eddings is asked what is her favorite part about coaching, she says ¨To see them win…to see the players who came in not knowing what to do or how to play the game turn into winners.” She loves to see students succeed, which is one of the many great things about her.

Outside of school and coaching, she is a real estate agent. Mrs. Eddings says her mother inspired her to take on business in the first place because she worked in the field as well. Mrs. Eddings says all of these achievements come from hard work and dedication–she works hard every day, giving her 100% to her students, players, and family. She says, ¨I've always had the same mindset.” She has always been a hard worker.

Mrs. Eddings’ student tennis players were asked to describe her as a coach. Sophomore Jenna Claire says, “She's very hardworking.” Senior Julian Leon also says, “She always finds ways to motivate us to keep going and keep pushing.¨ Overall, Mrs. Eddings inspires so many people in so many ways, including her players. In the end, she wants nothing more than effort.

Mrs. Eddings is an amazing teacher, coach, and person to be around. She constantly motivates her students and players each and every day on and off the court and in and out of the classroom. Her headstrong attitude helps her teach a great math class and lead teams to victory.

She has most definitely earned and will continue to earn anything she sets her mind to!
